Destiny 2: Lightfall and Season of Defiance are here

Greetings, Guardians. We celebrate today the release of Destiny 2 Lightfall, our latest chapter. Destiny 2’sSeason of Defiance and Light and Darkness Saga. With an all-new campaign, new destination, new activities, new rewards, and more, we thought you’d want to know everything that’s happening.  Let’s dive in.

Our End is Here

The end of the world begins when light is lost. Calus and the Witness, their newest Disciples, are fast approaching. Along with them is the new Shadow Legion. Your mission as a Guardian is to rally new allies, weave new powers into your arsenal, and give it everything you’ve got to help save humanity. The tools you’ll unlock during the campaign are plucked from the threads of consciousness themselves. Strand is now available.

Strand gets a new power

Strand is the latest technology to hit. Destiny 2. Throughout the campaign, you’ll unlock new abilities that allow you to manipulate reality and pluck at the cosmic web binding us all. When we introduce a new power, we want to make sure it’s brand new and unique to the game. We can confidently say that Strand is unlike anything that’s been in the Destiny universe.

You have new powers, but also new responsibilities. Whether you’re a Warlock summoning Threadlings from thin air, a Hunter gracefully gliding into battle, or a Titan smashing any and everything in your way, one thing is clear: You’ll need to master your new abilities to defend Neomuna and protect your new allies. And with more Fragments and Aspects for Strand to unlock after beating the campaign, we can’t wait to see how you build around these new powers.

Legendary Campaign

Guardians seeking a challenge will be pleased to hear that we have exciting news. The Legendary Mode that we introduced in The Witch Queen is back for Lightfall. Get gear worthy of legends for testing your skills. When you complete the Legendary Mode campaign, you’ll be ready to dive headfirst into the raid launching March 10.

Discover the Latest Exotics

If you thought we wouldn’t have new Exotics to liven up your arsenal, you thought wrong. Look at the Exotic Weapons and Gear Up!

• End WarningTo mark targets in range, hold down the trigger on this Kinect Strand Sidearm and fire a series of shots. Hip firing allows projectiles to track quickly towards the marked targets.
• The Deterministic ChaosWhen you hold the trigger, each fourth bullet in this Void Machine Gun turns into a heavy projectile which damages targets when it hits them. Each fourth projectile is a heavy projectile that makes targets unstable on impact.
• Winterbite: The Heavy Exotic Stasis Glaive unleashes an enormous ball of energy onto nearby targets that freezes and locks them.
• Cyrtarachne’s FaçadeThe Exotic Helmet provides additional protection after grappling. Hunters can gain extra body armor, flinch resistance and more.
• Abeyant LeapTitans’ Barricade gives them additional armor. It also spawns 2 seeking projectiles. They can track their targets and then suspend them.
• Social Swarming: Warlocks can now createThreadlings using this Exotic leg armor. They will attack and infest enemies once they have destroyed a Tangle.

Each of these brings something unique to the table, and we can’t wait to see how you mix and match them.

Neomuna Nights

A hidden neon metropolis unlike anything you’ve seen inDestiny 2, Neomuna is where the story of Lightfall begins, and where you’ll fight against the Shadow Legion and come face to face with towering Tormentors. To save humanity, you’ll need to team up with Cloud Striders and push back the Shadow Legion as they wreak havoc on Neomuna.

A new activity has been added to the Terminal Overload Program

Vex and Shadow Legion are waging an aggressive assault against the city. Stop their devastation with this public activity on Neptune. Your fellow Guardians should join forces to prevent Vex’s opening of Vex Portals in order for Neomuna to be inundated with their troops. It sounds easy, right? It sounds easy, but it is not. Shadow Legion strike groups are seeking to seize these portals. You’ll need all the help you can get in repelling both factions and defending Neomuna.

Season of Defiance

Seasonal Story

Season of Defiance is the continuation of Lightfall’s story. Vanguard summons its close allies. To stand up against the Shadow Legion, the Guardian must learn the Awoken’s righteous power and be crowned Queensguard.

New Activity: Defiant Battlegrounds

The Guardians will explore the EDZ, Cosmodrome and a Shadow Legion prison vessel in search of Pyramid outposts. They’ll need to tear a portal into the Ascendant Plane using the Seasonal artifact, fight back Taken and the Shadow Legion, find missing captives, and prepare a ritual that will allow the Techeuns to open a gateway to safety.

Defiance Drip

We had to be right with the tools that would allow us to defy all odds. We have new Legendary weapons and armor available throughout the season, as well as Verglas Curve, an Exotic Bow. After every last blow, load up your Ice Arrows to send the Ice Arrows flying and create Stasis fragments. Grab the Season Pass and you’ll instantly get the new daring weapon.

Guardian Games

There’s nothing wrong with a bit of competitiveness. Show the rest of the Guardians your support by joining forces with you fellow Guardians.
