Critical Role’s TTRPG Candela Obscura on sale in November
Darrington Press is the press branch of Critical Role and has set a date to release the Critical Role rulebook. Candela ObscuraThe tabletop version of the game was designed entirely by Critical Role and first appeared in Candela Obscura’s actual play series. The book can be purchased at Darrington Press Guild Stores as well as online through Critical Role starting on 14 November.
Candela Obscura uses the Illuminated Worlds system, which is Darrington Press’ own D6-based RPG system, devised by Stras Acimovic and Layla Adelman. Game is set during an industrial boom in (fictional world) Fairelands. Victorian-style aesthetics are used, along with ancient magicks. Here’s how the press release puts it: “Within the secret society Candela Obscura, individuals of varied talents work as a team — known as a circle — to investigate strange occurrences and dangerous magick, fighting back against a mysterious source of corruption and bleed.”

The Candela Obscura book comes in two versions: standard hardcover ($39.99) and limited edition hardcover ($59.99), the latter of which boasts “faux leather with an exclusive cover design, debossed and filled with metallic ink.”
