Complete the Gauntlet of Shar in BG3

Deep in BaldurS Gate 3s Shadow-Cursed Lands, you’ll find the Thorm Mausoleum You can also read about the Gauntlet Shar inside. There are several quests that include Heading there. “Find Ketheric Thorm’s Relic,” “Find the Nightsong,” “Kill Raphael’s Old Enemy,” “Lift the Shadow Curse,” and Shadowheart’s “The Chosen of Shar” companion quest. You must complete all of these quests. The Gauntlet of SharTo reach it, you must solve the first puzzle.

Once you’re past that hurdle, our Baldur’s Gate 3 Gauntlet SharGuide will guide you through all the steps. Gauntlet Shar including meeting Balthazar, finding the Silent Library and the Spear of Night, completing the Soft-Step, Self-Same, and Faith-Leap Trials, Finding the Nightsong and Keheric Thorm’s Relic, and completing the Chosen of Shar companion quest.


Balthazar

Once you’re past the Umbral Gem puzzle, you’ll head a little deeper into the Thorm Mausoleum. Use the mushrooms and the staircase on the west end of the Umbral Gem room to get further.

Eventually, you’ll come to a room full of Balthazar’s undead servants. Wipe them out, and the door to Balthazar’s lab will open. Talking to him will give you some more context about Ketheric’s Relic (but not much). You can choose to side with him or kill him.

Find your way eastward to reach the next Gauntlet level.


The Gauntlet of Shar

In the end, The Gauntlet of Shar comes down to collecting four total (more). Umbral GemsYou will put them on two pedestals. You’ll collect the gems from the trials and from a devil — Raphael’s Old Enemy.

You can do the trials (and the other quests) in any order you want, so we’ll just go in the order you reach them.


Easy-Step Test

First, you will need to complete the trial. Easy-Step Test. You want to get through the area without being seen by Shadows patrolling. Druids who have Wildshape can hide better, but casting spells is still the best option. Invisibility You can use someone else. Make sure that they are able to pick locks.

Hide someone from your group. You will be quieter even if you are invisible. The rightmost door (northern), and then follow the wall. You’ll come to a button on the wall to your right. Continue forward by pressing the button. Pick up the key to the gate. Umbral Gem.


The Self-Same Test

Just north of the Soft-Step Trial, you’ll find the The Self-Same Test. This one is the most straightforward: You’ll have to defeat yourself (well, yourselves). You’ll have to fight copies of each of the members of your group. One disadvantage is that they all share the same skills.

Faith-Leap Trial

Head north and descend the steps. At the bottom, you’ll find a door to the Faith-Leap Trial.

It’s less about leaping literally and more of a faith leap (in the direction you want to go). Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade sense). Switch the camera on Tactical View at the altar. The following are some of the reasons why you should consider hiring someone else. It is possible to walk along the invisible pathways in the tiled floor pattern.

The Silent Library & the Spear of Night

South of you is the Silent Library — so named because there’s a object calledThe LibrarianIn the middle of the room, cast Silence on the whole room. That means you can’t cast any spells inside.

Clear out all the baddies inside — including The Librarian so you can cast spells again — and then start poking around. You’ll find a lot of traps, a few spell scrolls, and some books that describe the trials, but the most important item you’re after is a book called Nightsinger: A Teaching of Loss. You’ll find it in the northeast corner of the library on a trapped bookshelf.

Head to the west side of the library and lockpick the door there — it’s DC 21, so you’ll need a good Sleight of HandIt takes a certain amount of skill to overcome it. Inside, you’ll find a pedestal called the Riddle of the Night You are asked to provide an item. You can place the Nightsinger: A Teaching of LossBook inside will open the secret door.

Grab the Spear of the Night.


Raphael’s Old Enemy, AKA Yurgir

One more Umbral gem is needed to complete the Gauntlet of Shar. Head east on the upper floor. You’ll spot a The Displacer BeastDown some damaged stairs and to the North. Follow the Displacer beast to the East by jumping across the gap between the broken stairs.

In the room it leads you to, you’ll meet Yurgir the Orthon (a kind of devil). It’s a devil. Raphael’s Old Enemy From the quest by the same name. You can end this quest in a couple of ways: you can either kill him and his lackeys, or speak to him about a way to get around his demon contract.

However you handle it, you’ll collect the final Umbral GemHe is a good man.


Find the Nightsong

Return to the pedestal, and put one of your Umbral GemsYou can find the Altar. The Gauntlet will then be deeper for you if this platform is unlocked.

At the bottom, you’ll find another pedestal and altar. Then, place the three remaining altars. Umbral GemsThe door will then open. Inside, you’ll find the The Shadows of VergeThe portal and waypoint for the Shadowfell.

Use the low gravity of the portal to get to the bottom. There, you’ll meet Ketheric’s Relic — the The Nightsong. However the interaction plays out, you’ll receive the Moonlight Glow as a reward and finally understand Ketheric Thorm’s immortality. It will also complete Shadowheart’s “Chosen of Shar” companion quest.
