Coffee Talk Creator And Writer Fahmi Has Passed Away

Fahmi, the creator and writer of the acclaimed indie visual novel game Coffee Talk, has passed away.

Fahmi’s sister as well as the official Coffee Talk Twitter account broke the sad news of the Indonesian developer’s sudden passing yesterday. Fahmi (real name Mohammad Fahmi) was 32 years. There has not been a cause of death. Fahmi, who was currently working on Afterlove EP, a slice-of life adventure game, died while he was still at work.

Today we received a devastating news that Fahmi, the creator & writer of Coffee Talk, has passed away. We send our condolences to his loved ones and family. 

All the positive things he shared and stories he wrote will live on in our hearts forever.

According to IGNFahmi was first born in 1990. He began his career with Gameloft in the role of a programer and designer. In 2020, Fahmi joined Tangerang-based Toge Productions to become a marketing manager and PR manager. He also wrote and produced Coffee Talk. The game became a critical hit and has since become Toge Productions most successful title; a sequel is currently in the works. Fahmi, prior to joining Toge Productions was the Editor-in Chief of the Games Department at the Jakarta tech outlet Tech in Asia. Following Coffee Talk’s success, Fahmi went on to open his own studio, Pikslenesia, where he created the side-scrolling narrative adventure game What Comes After. 

Fahmi was a supremely talented creator and his passing is a major blow to the Southeast Asian game development community as well as the indie gaming scene at large. Game Informer extends its deepest condolences to Fahmi’s family and friends.
