Check out the first gameplay trailer for the Dead Space remake

The Dead SpaceThe remake will be out in a couple of months, but the first gameplay trailer has finally arrived.

The trailer dropped on Tuesday morning and showcases Isaac Clarke — the protagonist from all three of the Dead Space games — running through the halls of the USG Ishimura, a planet cracker starship. Isaac uses his plasma cutter to dismember and harm a number of undead creatures called Necromorphs.

Isaac Clarke (an engineer) is the newcomer to Dead Space. He travels with his small team to fix the Ishimura’s problems after receiving a distress signal. Nicole, Isaac’s girlfriend, also happens to be stationed on the planet cracker. Isaac discovers an army of zombies when he reaches the ship. All of them have been altered by the mysterious Marker. Isaac must use a variety of weapon-like construction tools — a cutter, a flamethrower, a… flying buzzsaw — to dismember the zombified crew so they can’t piece themselves back together again.

The Dead SpaceRemake is the recreation of the original game. However, EA Motive has taken some liberties with the old title in order to modernize it. For example, the studio recently revealed that the game will feature a contiguous camera shot and will never cut — ala 2018’s God of War. It will flesh out characters such as Nicole and let players physically experience some characters previously only available in audio logs about Ishimura.

But don’t panic if you’re a fan of the original game. EA Motive has been using a community council — a group of hardcore Dead Space fans who’ve been checking in on development since the beginning — to help ensure the remake remains faithful to the original.

EA will release the Spacing for Deade remake Jan. 27, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
