Capybara audio and memes are taking over TikTok
Thanks to TikTok’s silly song, Capybaras have returned in big numbers. The world’s biggest rodent is now taking over the massive video-sharing app, TikTok. Users are now able to cut footage of capybaras and other images into video clips on TikTok thanks to a new catchy song. The sound was downloaded more than 384,000 times at the time of publication. Some videos have received as high as 16,000,000 views.
The song that sparked the trend is by a Russian artist and it’s just called “Capybara” in Russian. It sort of sounds like a song from a children’s show. The lyrics go, “Ca-py-bara capybara capybara capybara capybara capybara.” It’s just a little earworm that’s super easy to sing to.
The encyclopedia Britannica states that capybaras, which are native to South America, are the largest living rodents in the world. While the larger species may grow to up to 176 lbs, the smaller one makes for cute TikToks. These slow-moving animals are known to hang out together in the water. These animals have been added to the super-popular internet animal list because of their adorable brown hair and easygoing nature.
According to Know Your Meme, capybara content moved away from the typical forest and wetland environments. Tumblr was the first platform to show capybara content. It featured images showing animals snuggling on top, as well as cute pictures of monkeys and bunnies sleeping on them. The animal’s popularity ebbed and flowed — at one point footage from a BBC nature documentary became a popular reaction gif known as “shocked capybara.” Fast forward a few years to 2018 and Katsuhito Watanabe shared videos of the animals vibing and taking a yuzu bath, which propelled the animal to further popularity.
Now, they’re stealing the limelight once again. This trend is quite straightforward. People will use CapCut templates for Capybara audio to create cute images and videos of capybaras. This video shows how a capybara emerged from a watermelon.
