Zombies are back with this year’s Call of Duty: Vanguard. Treyarch, Sledgehammer Gaming, Activision and Treyarch released Thursday’s trailer, giving gamers their first taste of old-school Zombicide-slaying action. Sledgehammer will be developing most of the content. Duty callVanguard, the Zombies mode will be a Treyarch joint — the studio behind the original undead experience, dating all the way back to 2008’s World at War: The Call of Duty
With a return to the World War II setting, it looks like we’re going to get some more occult action in Vanguard’s Zombies. Trailer shows Nazi captain who uses a special relic for new knowledge and the ability of raising the dead. Players use WWII-era weapons and activate crystal swords. They also place rings of fire on ground. Billie Eilish is heard.
A trailer shows players a range of crystals as well as relics. But it looks like they’re going to need all the help they can get, as we also see a few special zombie types throughout the trailer — including a multiarmed, three-eyed, flaming zombie god.
The Zombies mode took a different turn during the development of Treyarch’s most recent entry in the franchise, Black Ops Cold War: Call of DutyThis is. The maps now come with free updates, and not expensive DLC packs. Zombies modes, such as Outbreak by the developers, have also been included. These add a little more variety to the game’s round-based approach. It’s currently unclear if the studio will experiment with other modes or release the maps for free in Vanguard: The Call of DutyTreyarch will share more details on the mode later.
