Blade Runner TV show in the works from original director Ridley Scott

Variety has learned that Ridley Scott revealed today that a Blade Runner live-action television series is in development. “We [have already] written the pilot for Blade Runner and the bible,” Scott told the BBC this Monday. “So, we’re already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, the first 10 hours.”

Scott further revealed that Scott was producing the Alien series of television shows. LegionNoah Hawley’s creator was revealed in December 2020 that he would receive a similar treatment. He will be receiving both a pilot and a story bible to accompany a 1-hour, 10-episode series.

In the past four years, the much-loved series of cyberpunk has been revived. 2017 was the year of “The Cyberpunk Series”. Blade Runner 2049, Denis Villeneuve’s follow-up to the 1982 original, while Blade Runner: Black Lotus, an animated television series that was set in the Blade Runner universe premiered earlier this month on Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, and Crunchyroll.

No official word yet as to who will be attached to write or direct this new Blade Runner television series, nor when the series is slated to premiere or take place respective to the events of either the original Blade Runner or 2017’s Blade Runner 2049. Alcon Entertainment has hired two employees to keep track of the Blade Runner stories.
