Bethesda.net will be retired May 11, migrate titles over to Steam April 27

Bethesda Softworks published a news update this week stating that from April 27th, users who have purchased titles using the Bethesda.net Starter will be capable of migrating their games, as well any virtual currencies and saves, to Steam.

The company had announced in February that it would retire the Bethesda.net Launcher. Bethesda’s latest update states that starting on May 11, players will no longer be able to play and access games within the Bethesda.net Launcher.

As detailed in the Bethesda’s now-updated Q&A FAQ, any title purchased through the Bethesda.net Launcher will be available to users for free on Steam. Players’ Bethesda.net accounts will remain active and will still be accessible via the Bethesda.net website and in-game for titles that require players to sign in to play. The company emphasizes that while the Bethesda.net Launcher is being retired, Bethesda.net accounts will continue to be supported with the publisher’s future titles.

After the migration has been complete, in-game virtual currencies that are connected to Bethesda.net Wallets should transfer to Steam. Bethesda stated that although some saves are automatically transferred, others may require you to copy your saves to your Steam folder. Users will need to restart Steam after the installation process is complete.

You can also create friends lists to play games like Fallout: 76, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, The Elder Scrolls: Legends, Rage 2And DeathloopSteam will allow you to transfer your game saves, virtual currency and other data.

Bethesda.net customers will continue to have access via the Bethesda.net Library to their game collection and they will also be able transfer their games onto Steam when the Bethesda.net Launcher ends on May 11. The migration process for users who have already purchased games from their Bethesda.net Library via Steam will continue to work. Users will however not receive anything for any items that they own.
