Bayonetta 3 Broken Moon Pearls location guide: Where to find them

Bayonetta 3Finding Broken Moon Pearls can increase your magical abilities. Once you’ve collected four of them, they’ll automatically turn into a full Moon Pearl, which you can use in the Skills menu for both Bayonetta and Viola throughout the story. While Rodin’s shop has a few of them up for purchase, most are scattered throughout the levels. Here’s where to find them.

Keep in mind that this guide is in progress; right now, we’ve covered up through chapter 7, which should be give you plenty of magic to work with for both Bayonetta and Viola.

Chap. 1

In Shibuya, take one of the side streets (the one where you can see a broken bus and some soldiers on the ground) to find the “Blow kisses to them!” trial. Wait for the enemy to attack and then approach them. To activate Witch Time, dodge right after they strike Bayonetta. To blow a kiss, you can summon your demon using LZ. My experience was that the demon gave two kisses to both of them, which affected their reactions. While they were stunned, another kiss completed the task. Broken Moon Pearls are the reward.

Chap 2

After Verse 1, look to the buildings on the left side — one of them has a sign that says DFH (you’ll unlock a Betwitchment for staring at it for a few seconds). There’s a billboard right next to it. Use the Spider to get to this spot and then go under the roof to request a trial. This is a simple one. There’s a spot that replenishes your magic. Now, stand on it and summon the Spider to start dropping bombs. When you see a handful of enemies crawling, click R and web them all. You’ll have to repeat this a total of eight times to complete the trial. It is possible to do this in reverse but it will take you less time. Once done, you’ll get a Broken Moon Pearl.

Chap. 3

As you make your way through the wreckage in the starting area, you’ll see a floating chest flying in circles. You can either use your summon, do air attacks, or just shoot at it until it’s destroyed. You’ll find a Broken Moon Pearl inside.

For the second one in this chapter, you’ll have to complete a trial encounter. After climbing up, you will find the entrance on top of the tallest rooftop. It is important to increase your combo points. It is difficult to hit the required 5,000, so I suggest summoning a demonic, doing as many damage with different attacks as you can, then switching back to Bayonetta, where you will shoot with her pistols, when your magic runs out. Make sure to not get hit; Witch Time is in your favor here, and you can use the demon as soon as you’re able to in order to keep up with the combo. Once you’re done, the Broken Moon Pearl will be yours.

Chap. 4

After finishing Verse 1 and heading over to the second island, right before you stumble upon the big locked door, you’ll see a checkpoint altar to the right and a waterfall behind it. Continue on the right, and then turn left to get the key. From there, head down to the waterfall and you’ll find the door in the inner cave. There’s a chest inside.

Verse 2: Before you go into the inner chamber, make a left turn using the platforms to reach the far end. Then, hop onto the structure. You’ll stumble upon a chest that’ll activate a time-based puzzle. It’s quite simple: Use the Spider to climb around the wall, grab the five orbs and then use your mouse.

After Verse 4, as you make your way through the bridge where the soldiers are cheering you, head over to the first building on the left that you see (there’s one on the right first, and then a second on the left). You can activate a timed activity by going to the rooftop at the opposite end. It was a lot of time to do this, and I decided to use the spider form to swing around to get all five pieces. Once you’re done, you’ll net another Broken Moon Pearl for yourself.

Chapter 5

To find the trial, go to the right after Verse 1. There are a few enemies that you must defeat here, but they can’t be hurt during Witch Time. Prepare to parry. I recommend parrying right before you’re about to get attacked to get the prolonged Witch Time. Either go ham with combos or summon Cheshire — up to you. Once you’re done, the Broken Moon Pearl will be all yours.

After Verse 8, you’re going to find a chest to the opposite side of Rodin’s shop station. To activate a timed event, destroy it. It’s easy to do. Make sure to jump twice and use your grappling hook for speedier movement towards the building. You’ll get a Broken Moon Pearl for your troubles.

Chap 6

After Verse 4, you’ll stumble upon Rodin’s shop in a long pathway. Referring to that, continue your journey backwards and then turn left to see a staircase. There is an opportunity to try it. The key here is to continue the combo, so it shouldn’t be too hard. You can use summons to dodge any attacks that may come your way. Once you’re done, the Broken Moon Pearl will be yours.

Don’t leave the area just yet! There is another pathway next to the one you’re standing on with two chests. While standing on that path, the first chest, which looks like a triangle, will give you unlimited energy. The floating chest can be destroyed by summoning any of your demons. You will receive a Broken Moon Pearl to complete your full Moon Pearl.

Chap 7

It’s time for a trial. After Verse 1, as you continue making your way to the level, you’ll find a trial on top of a plateau and right before a waterfall with a locked door. You must accumulate at least 5,000 combo point against one enemy to win this challenge. It’s a bit tough, but here’s what worked for me: Use Ranged attacks when the enemy is far away. Prepare to counterattack as soon as the enemy charges Viola. This will allow you to summon Cheshire to deal significant damage to your opponent and increase your score. This can be repeated several times. Just be mindful of not getting hit so the counter doesn’t drop to zero. Ranged attacks are a good option if you’re unsure. You will receive a Broken Moon Pearl as your reward.

There’s another Broken Moon Pearl if you follow the path behind the waterfalls in the desert section that has the huge sand river. Make a quick detour on the right and follow the trail behind the waterfalls before you head there. After you’re past the first one, keep on moving to the other end and hop all the way up to the path that leads to a trial on the left corner – you’ll know it’s the right spot cause an enemy is gonna emerge from the sand. Look to the other side. See that tower? You can run to the edge, jump, hold the hook until it becomes a grappling hook and swing yourself onto the rooftop. You can get the second Broken Moon Pearl by destroying the chest.

After you’ve made it through the quicksand, when you cross paths with the two pillars with a staircase in between, take a detour to left side towards that lone tower. To find the Broken Moon Pearl in the chest, you can use the ledges to the mountain. Just double-jump/swing toward the end.
