Baldurs Gate 3You can choose between 12 different classes when creating your character. There are 12 different classes to choose from when creating your character. MonkIt is a melee-class that emphasizes speed over brute force.
Monks solve a lot of problems with punching like Fighters do, but they’re a lot fancier in how they do it. They have a primary stat of Dexterity.

The Monk Class Features
Dexterity is a key characteristic of monks, as are wisdom and their various class traits.
- Unarmored Defence — while not wearing armor, you add your Wisdom modifier to your Armor Class
- Martial Arts: Dextrous Attacks — attacks with Monk Weapons (Simple Weapons that are not two-handed or heavy) and unarmed attacks scale with your Dexterity instead of Strength
- Martial Arts: Deft Strikes — attacks with Monk Weapons and unarmed attacks deal 1d4 Bludgeoning damage unless their normal damage is higher
- Martial Arts: Unarmed Strike — after making an attack with a Monk Weapon or while unarmed, you can make another unarmed attack as a bonus action
- Unarmored movement — at level 2, your movement speed increases by 10ft while you are not wearing armor or using a shield
The Hit Points
- Hit Dice — 1d8 per Monk level
- At 1st level, the Hit Points are at a maximum of 100. — 8 + your Constitution modifier
- Higher Hit Points — 5 + your Constitution modifer per Monk level after 1st
The Ki Points system is a great way to earn points.
The monks’ extra actions and attacks are powered by Ki Points. After level 1, your Ki Points increase by one per level. On a short rest, Ki Points are recharged.
Take Action
The monks start at level 1. A Flurry of BlowsAs a bonus action, you can perform two additional melee strikes.
Level 2 Monks can perform three additional actions with Ki points:
- Patient Defense — for 1 turn, Attack Rolls against you have Disadvantage, and you have Advantage on Dexterity Saving Throws
- Dash of the wind — double your movement speed and jump no longer requires a bonus action
- Step the wind: Disengage — Retreat to safety by Disengaging and jump no longer requires a bonus action
Proficiencies
- Weapons — Simple Weapons, Shortswords
- The following are some of the most effective ways to learn how to speak English. — Acrobatics, Athletics, Insight, Religion
- Saving Throws — Dexterity, Constitution
The monk class
The monks can choose between three different subclasses at level 3.
Four Elements Way
The monks of the Way of the Four Elements use Ki to manipulate the elements.
The more you gain, the better. Harmony of Fire and Water This action allows you to regain 50% of your Ki Points once every Long Rest.
Instead of using spell slots, monks of the Way of the Four Elements can use Ki to cast their spells. The Elements: Disciple of Elements. You’ll choose three spells from the Monk spell list:

| Fist of Four Thunders | Then, release a squall of thunderous force to push away any creatures or objects. This will cause 2d8 Damage from Thunder. |
| The Fist that Unbroken Air | The target is knocked Prone and pushed back by 20ft. |
| Rush of the Gale Spirits | You can summon a powerful wind to push creatures 17ft back and force them off balance |
| Ice-shaping | Create a climable ice cube |
| The Sphere of Elemental Balance | A sphere can be hurled that will deal 3d8 thunder damage, and may create a surface when it hits. |
| The Sweeping Cinder Stike | You can ignite anything with 3d6 fire damage by hurling it from your hands. |
| Touch of the Storm | The target is unable to use any reactions after receiving 1d10 lightning damage |
| Water Whip | You can knock the target Prone or pull it toward you by dealing 3d10 blunting damage. |
The Open Hand
Way of the Open Hand Monks specializes in combat unarmed. Learn three new Ki Point Actions.
- Toppled by a Flurry Of Blows — Punch twice in quick succession for 2d6 Bludgeoning damage and possibly knock the target Prone
- Stagger — Punch twice in quick succession for 2d6 Bludgeoning damage and Stagger the target to make them unable to take reactions
- A Flurry of blows: Push — Punch twice in quick succession for 2d6 Bludgeoning damage and possibly push the target 17ft away
Way of Shadow
Shadow Monks Hide in the Shadows. They are experts at stealth, subterfuge, and disguise.

You’ll also get four new spell-like uses for your Ki Points:
- Pass Without Trace: Shadow Arts — gives you and all nearby companions a +10 bonus to Stealth Checks
- The Shadow Arts of Darkness — create a dark shroud that Heavily Obscures and Blinds creatures within
- Darkvision: The Shadow Arts — grant a creature the ability to see in the dark out to 40ft
- Shadow Arts – Silence — create a sound-proof sphere where all within are Silenced and Immune to Thunder damage.
