Atlas, Titan of the Cosmos, is Available Now in Earth-moving Smite Update

Prior to the gods setting foot on Olympus the dominion was held by the titans. The titan Cronus, fearful of his doom from his descendants, unwittingly started a rebellion sparked by Zeus’ son. Titanomachy was a clash between god and titan that saw the death of all titans to Hades. That is all, except Atlas who will forever be burdened by the weight of the sky, and all its stars, on his tired shoulders. As the Greeks consider him the father and founder of astronomy, he was also the inventor of star charts. This helped the Greeks prosper on the Mediterranean’s shores. Even today, his name is still used to describe a set of maps that he carries on his shoulders.

It was high time Titan Forge Games got around to forging a titan, and we’ve created a colossus worthy of the honor. Atlas’ myth is characterized by prolonged hardship and endurance, features we’ve carried over into every aspect of his kit. Atlas is able to take severe punishments, and then return the energy with interest. Each attack made or received by him accumulates energy before it’s released in a burst power that deals bonus damage and stuns minions. Atlas can use basic attacks as well as his ability to build energy, which allows him to take hits while keeping the pressure up.

Atlas’ long imprisonment has taught him much about being controlled, a skill he brings to bear with each of his abilities. Unburden makes Atlas shake off his astrolabe to cast it onto the ground for area denial. His second ability, Gravity Pull adds to the power by drawing enemies into the sphere, launching them at Atlas, or if Atlas already holds the Astrolabe for extra pummeling. Allies can be rewarded for their beatdown contributions with Atlas’ Kinetic Charge, which cleanses them of any slows and transfers the accumulated effects onto any enemy god foolish enough to not get out of the way. One or two epochs in solitude may make titans appreciate having friends.
