Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn Of Ragnarok Wins First Ever Grammy For Best Video Game Score

The Grammy Awards ceremony last night featured a new category: Best score soundtrack for video games. Dawn of Ragnarok from Assassin’s creed Valhalla was awarded the award. 

Stephanie Economou was the DLC composer and won the Grammy. She also has credits for Netflix’s. Jupiter’s LegacyContributions to soundtracks and scores of films like The Martian, Mulan(2020), plus more information, according to Variety. Economou, according to The Journal, thanked “all the people who worked tirelessly to bring the category to existence,” and expressed gratitude for their “acknowledging the power of music” 

Variety It was also reported that, prior to the Grammys this year, soundtracks and video games were eligible in show’s score categories but received only one nomination over twenty years. Austin Wintory was nominated for Journey’s score. Wintory received the nomination this year for Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Bear McCreary, Christopher Tin and Richard Jacques from Call of Duty: Vanguard. 

Economou won the Grammy in the show’s preshow segment hosted by Randy RainbowIf the manner in which he announced the name of the game last night suggests, he might not have been as familiar with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
