Alan Wake 2’s Biggest Update Yet Includes Fixes For Bugs, Visual Issues, And More

Remedy Entertainment released Alan Wake 2 last month, and it’s resonated with both fans and critics alike as a longtime sequel and a new game from the creators of Control – you can read Game Informer Alan Wake 2 Review here. Today’s Alan Wake 2 Update is by far the largest update yet, with bug fixes and visual issue remedying. 

The update 1.000.008 for PS5, 1.0.0.8 for Xbox Series X/S and 1.0.8 PC includes over 200 improvements to the game. These include audio improvements in live action sequences, graphical issues fixed, performance mode improvements, lighting improvements and mission specific fixes. One of these fixes fixes a bug that caused Saga to get stuck within the environment during one of Saga’s first chapters.

Global

  • There are various localization fixes including improved sub-title timings across all languages
  • Improvements to localized audio for Live-Action Cinema
  • Additional polish and improvements to audio.
  • Some instances of improved lip sync
  • The environments have been updated to fix various graphics issues
  • Cinematics: minor fixes to various issues
  • Xbox Series S Performance Mode: Minor image improvements
  • Upgraded Lighting
  • Fix lighting problems in several locations
  • Various UI fixes and polish
  • There are a number of fixes and improvements to the game.
  • Small gameplay tweaks
  • Auto-aim improved for certain circumstances
  • Fix for rare animation problems with player characters
  • Case Board: Fixed various issues
  • Map issues fixed
  • A number of conversations which failed to activate and thus blocked the progress were fixed
  • Fixed Rose’s dialogue choices, sometimes not being selectable, blocking progress
  • Fixed a rare issue with Saga’s lines not playing when going to the Sheriff’s Station, blocking progress
  • Fixes a problem where the player can get stuck while playing a Case Board Tutorial
  • Lighthouse rewards fixed exploration 

Mission Specific

INVITATION:

  • Fixed a bug where Saga could get stuck in the environment (“Crazy forest”)

CASEY:

  • Fix for potential problem where players could get stuck after falling off ladders
  • Dark Presence still poses a threat.
  • Fix for a rare crash

ZANE’S FILM:

  • Fix for a bug that allowed Alan to fall through the surrounding environment

SCRATCH:

  • Fix for a bug that caused Saga to fall through the World
  • A bug was fixed where the gate would lock after loading a saved game. This prevented players from progressing.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause the map to open outside the game when the player is in rare situations.
  • In rare instances, Lighthouse keys could not be collected.

We Sing:

  • Fix for a bug that could cause Alan to get stuck on the screen.

ROOM 665:

  • We have fixed the issue where Oceanview Hotel Lobby Echo was not aligning correctly. (This one was very annoying, we are sorry)

MASKS:

  • Fixes an issue that could block mission progress if the user performed certain tasks in an unexpected order

DEERFEST:

  • Fixed an issue (much to Rose’s chagrin) with physics-related props that could block the player in and halt progress

Come Home:

  • In rare cases, the player was unable to exit radio, television, or the manuscript interaction modules. 

PC Specific

  • Fix for a bug which could reset graphics settings when the game is launched
  • PC Window Handling Logic Improvements
  • Fix mouse cursor not showing up in some menus
