Sam Lake from Remedy revealed new details about Alan Wake 2’s upcoming survival horror video game during Summer Game Fest.

Sam Lake provided more details regarding Alan Wake 2, including previously-revealed facts. You can play both as FBI agent Saga and Alan, who have separate campaigns but are connected. The game allows players to switch between Saga and Alan at any point. Saga explores the Pacific Northwest while Alan attempts to escape from the Dark Realm. The fact that players are able to switch between characters allows for a variety of story differences. In addition, you can choose to play as one particular character throughout the game.

The sequel’s shift to pure survival horror is shown off with the game’s heavy Resident Evil vibes as Saga riddles a terrifying killer with bullets while dodging his attacks. The trailer ends with some investigative gameplay, but we don’t get a long look at this part of the experience.
