Why it’s a fit: Ah, mentorship. It’s hard, right? You’re right, it is hard. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Peter, the protagonist of the videogame, is like a kind mentor for Miles Morales. Why it’s a fit: Making new friends is simple. Maintaining friendships is a different matter. That’s where a little effort goes a long way. It’s not difficult to see why. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 the video game, Peter and Miles are basically BFFs, swinging through New York City battling all kinds of foul foes and ne’er-do-wells. In this 2014 film, a photojournalist agrees to introduce his friend to an acquaintance from work in order to be helpful. The introduction is a disaster and leads to a fight between two friends, which forces one of them into making rash decisions.

Why it’s a fit: As you grow older, your responsibilities increase. Maybe it’s a new job. Maybe it’s new goals that you’re reaching for. Maybe it’s the duty you’ve given yourself to protect your friends.

This movie is about a young, ambitious hero who has to manage all of these responsibilities while on an educational trip in Europe. Now, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 doesn’t whisk players to Europe, but the balance between fighting evil and keeping your friends safe in a dangerous world is one that I know the game’s protagonists could relate to.
