Starfield’s janky moments make for great social media moments
StarfieldIt is an RPG with a large scope that offers cosmic awe and mysteries, as well as a huge galaxy for exploration. Although the game’s narrative is large, philosophically significant and expansive, many of its small details make me laugh. Starfield. Bethesda’s RPGs all have the same jankiness. StarfieldThis is not an exception.
Players can, for example, be very roguish and happy to steal things from the settlements. What if the nice items are always surrounded with witnesses? Thanks to the game’s physics engine, the player can take whatever they’d like simply by using an object to knock it in a bucket, then carrying that bucket off to a quiet corner to claim their prize.
There’s also the old classic of putting a box over someone’s head, so they can’t see you steal things. That’s just a universal truth across Bethesda titles, and it’s a life hack that shopkeepers don’t want you to know about.
It also creates a lot of unintentional comedy. I have a good laugh at it. Fildo28 shared this example of ragdolls causing a grim fate that is so reminiscent of Looney Tunes.
A UC officer exhibiting a frightened expression in this video is another perfect example. It’s a little goofy, but also kind of touching. Something else that’s unexpectedly emotional is this rock that started following a poster named Ultimastar around. This rock was at his wedding.
The majority of bugs that players encounter are harmless. In fact, they’re part of the fun. There’s an inherent comedy to some of the situations you might encounter in a Bethesda game. These bugs make for good montage materials; they often seem scripted and absurdist, just like a comedy piece in this space opera.
This is part of the charm of Bethesda games — the NPCs. There are hundreds of characters that the player will meet, but most only exist to provide a few words of explanation. StarfieldThe ability to lend itself Unusual behavior — for me, that manifests in picking up every nailgun, shot glass, and picture frame I find.
My immersion can be broken by a glitch. They feel like an WestworldI’m using this cast as set dressing to my trip. It is a question we must ask: what do we really look like? The following are some examples of how to get started:What is your point of view on the game? It’s comical, but that’s part of the secret sauce in Bethesda RPGs. All of these little quirks work together to give Bethesda RPGs a distinct feel. je ne sais quoi, and I’m here for it.
