New World is struggling with multiple bugs, exploits, and gold duping
At first glance New World The game appears like a regular MMO, complete with combat, crafting and monstrous critters. But there’s a hidden underbelly to the game that players are using to get all manner of unscrupulous advantages. Although New World has lots of in-game PvP opportunities for players to contest regions or duke it out with each other, it’s also proving to have lots of in-game opportunities to blindside opponents or gain advantages by exploiting the game’s many, many bugs. And some of developer Amazon’s fixes and patches have also resulted in additional player issues.
New WorldAll MMOs have bugs since the start. At first, the game’s biggest problem was queues of players trying to get into the game. Then, people noticed that they could make their character invulnerable by minimizing the game’s screen and dragging it around. Amazon intervened in Patch 1.0.4 to correct the issue, however new problems were already apparent. The issues were different between servers. Certain communities used the barter economy in order to amass as much wealth possible during the deflation process. Other groups discovered the secret to endless wealth by duping.
Chat boxes and even the most basic features were no longer trustworthy. Users on the New World subreddit claimed that others could insert HTML code into the chat, to make them blind or disconnect from other users. “You can insert HTML code in the chat to display images or even kick people of they hover over a word,” wrote user janikFIGHT. It’s certainly an unscrupulous advantage to use the chat box to send a giant yellow square that covers most of your screen. And even less rude uses of the exploit — like sending a giant stock image of sausages — are still immersion breaking.

Amazon has been placed in an awkward position. While it is required to correct these issues, patches can cause new problems. Amazon corrected the image-posting bug in October. It was designed to secure chat and reduce disruption. On Monday, the developer posted this message on the MMO’s official forums, which reads:
The possibility of gold duplication has been identified and temporarily disable all forms of wealth transfer among players. Sending currency, guild treasure, trading post and player-to-player trading
Any player who uses this exploit is subject to prosecution.
We will make an update to this article once we have investigated the gold duplication exploit and are ready for wealth transfer.
Thank you for your understanding.
However, now it seems that this issue has opened up for another duplication problem in gold. Players are now flocking towards the forums to report the bug. The majority of New World is upgrading your settlement and acting as governor; however, players are reporting that they can start upgrades, see the gold accumulate in their company bank, and then … the upgrade simply doesn’t start, which allows them to collect free gold.
These bugs are in addition to many other less-game-breaking bugs, such as a hatchet exploit which allows players to easily solo areas at the end of each level. Others are trying to figure out what parts of the game they can use, and some are killing boars or fishing. New WorldYou can either bend or break for your advantage. Developers can only try to catch up.
In a forum thread, a developer under the handle Kay wrote: “I’m being sincere when I say [the glitch is]It’s not funny. It’s not funny. We put a lot of effort into the Closed Beta changes, but for another problem to appear that is identical, it negates all our efforts. We created this game for you all, and issues like this one, where it looks like we are ignoring something that we all consider a huge problem, make it seem like we don’t care. We care a lot. And I’m sorry that this is happening.”
