Final Fantasy VII Rebirth ‘Progressing Smoothly’ According To Producer
Yoshinori kitase, producer of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – the second game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series – gave a short but welcome progress report. Though we haven’t heard a peep about the game since its reveal last June, we could be getting a release date soon.
In a tweet, Kitase answered the question of how Rebirth is progressing by simply stating, “Development is progressing smoothly and according to plan. We are currently working on nailing down a release date for the game.”
Kitase has claimed that the next update will be exciting. Summer Game Fest will be around soon, and Square Enix, one of its confirmed partners, could announce a release date.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is currently slated to release this winter for PlayStation 5 and picks up after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake and its Intermission story expansion. Though it follows Cloud and Co.’s journey beyond Midgar, the cinematic reveal trailer makes it tough to know what to expect given the Remake’s events (other than Cloud and Sephiroth taking a lot of strolls together), so hopefully we’ll be getting another glimpse of the project sooner than later.
