Jared Leto’s Tron 3 ramps up as Tron coaster fever hits Disney World

2010’s Tron: Legacy, the 30-years-later sequel to 1982’s Tron that didn’t make a ton of sense at the time but hey it’s Disney so sure why not make a sequel to Tron and oh it didn’t do that well at the box office was anyone surprised yeah who would have predicted that, will finally get a sequel. Deadline reports that the current title of the film is Tron: AresThe film will be starring Jared Leto, Dr. Michael Morbius, and the director of this movie. This doesn’t make much sense but also makes perfect sense.

Disney spent years deliberating about a sequel. Tron before landing on hotshot commercial director Joseph Kosinski, who went on to direct a lil’ movie called Maverick is the Top GunTo the helm Legacy. Kosinski showed up at San Diego Comic-Con in 2008 to hype the movie. Tron 2This test footage absolutely blows the roof off. You can see the entire video here. Tron Dork was the perfect moment in an often harsh world of anticipation. Kosinski showed more footage, clips, and scenes of the film at SDCC over the next two years. It had momentum and stars (Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund) as well as the rarest win: Daft Punk’s score.

However, box office and reception were not great when the film was released in theaters. Reviews didn’t warm up to Kosinski’s icy vision of the digital landscape (though it’s only been more appreciated over time). This was the film Kosinski had hoped would be the next Disney liveaction classic, along with Pirates of the Caribbean. It ended up being worth around $400m worldwide. This is a significant number but only a third the revenue from the original three Pirates films. There was immediate sequel talk — Pirates took its time becoming a massive franchise, and Tron might do the same — and as Kosinski has said during his MaverickHis storyboarding skills were evident in the entire press cycle by 2015. Tron: AscensionDisney was open to building sets. Disney pulled out. According to Kosinski, the company had just bought Star Wars, had Marvel in full swing, and this wasn’t the right gamble.

However NowNow is the best time to start Tron 3Jared Leto. It’s something that has been mentioned since 2017, but not this time.

I will be clear about my position: Hell yes. Let me take you to the grid. Leto can be Ram 2.0, or whatever. Just imagine what M3GAN could do to a refrigerator and how the Master Control Program got there at the end. And sure, I am vaguely curious what happened after Olivia Wilde’s Quorra jumped out of the computer to become real (but, uh, maybe more curious how things are going at the End of the Line Club where Daft Punk played DJs). Tron: AresYes, it does sound good.

Deadline reports Sean Bailey is the Disney executive for live action feature films who lost his fortune. Tron: Legacy and rightfully picked Kosinski to captain the ship, has found a director for the third installment in Joachim Rønning, who has become a bit of a Disney favorite after breaking out with the 2012 Norwegian drama Kon-Tiki. That film’s high-seas adventure made him and his co-director Espen Sandberg obvious choices to helm Pirates of the Caribbean Tell No Tales, and he eventually flew solo on Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress Evil. That’s enough to convince the studio he’s the guy to save Tron — or at least line it right up where the “franchise” is within the Disney infrastructure.

Tron’s most remarkable, and perhaps oddest, recent event is Tron Lightcycle / Run. This incredible construction was completed at Walt Disney World. Legacy’s aesthetic and iconography in the form of a semi-enclosed roller coaster.

Inaugurated at Shanghai Disneyland, the attraction was first launched in 2016 and originally planned to launch in 2021. But, because of pandemic setbacks this year, it will open its doors for visitors in April. The “story” of the ride evidently picks up with Hedlund’s character Sam Flynn, who has since opened up a new gateway into the Grid. They ride a lightcycle, and then they enter the digital realm. This is the latest Tron: LegacyContent in 2023 We live in a wonderful world!

And that’s only the beginning. You can also argue with Naysayers. Tron Tron LegacyHowever, they did not have any cultural caches or interest in movies. They argued the exact same thing. Avatar 2, completely overlooking how Animal Kingdom’s Pandora world and the Avatar Flight of Passage ride kept the movie alive in the minds of park-goers for eons. What if? The Way of Water: Avatar proves anything, visual spectacle that isn’t out of the Marvel can is hard to come by these days, and people will pay for it. The path is clear for Leto and whatever blue-hued wonder he’ll encounter in Tron: Ares.

Deadline Reports Tron: AresProduction could start as early as August. There’s no official announcement of the film or release date set, but so is the way with the Tron sequel. We are still hyped.
