New Alone in the Dark remake announced for PS5, Xbox Series X, PC

You are alone in the darkTHQ Nordic has announced the reimagining and remake of the 1992 classic survivor horror game, “” on Friday. New: You are alone in the dark will send players back to 1920s New Orleans and the original game’s Derceto Manor, where Lovecraftian horrors await.

Development of the New You are alone in the darkSwedish company Pieces InteractiveMagicka 2, Titan QuestAtlantis), but the more recognizable name involved in the project, for horror game fans anyway, is Mikael Hedberg, whose writing credits include Frictional Games’ Soma Dark Descent: Amnesia. Hedberg’s story is said to be an original one that incorporate’s characters, places, and thematic elements from the first three games in the Alone in the Dark series.

As playable characters, the original protagonists Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood will return. Both characters will have their unique perspectives on the story. According to THQ Nordic’s official description of You are alone in the darkEmily sets out to find her uncle missing and hires Edward as a private investigator. Their journey leads them to Derceto, a “home for the mentally fatigued,” as well as strange residents, “portals to nightmarish worlds,” and deadly monsters.

THQ Nordic has hired Guy Davis, a comic book artist, creature designer, and artist who often collaborated with Guillermo del Toro, to bring these monsters to life.

Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic promise suspenseful exploration and intense combat. They also promise challenging puzzles. You are alone in the dark’s total package. The game has been in development since 2019, THQ Nordic says, and it’s coming at an unspecified date to PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
