You Can Watch The Opening Animation For Sonic Superstars Right Now

Sega has released the opening animation for Sonic Superstars ahead of the game’s release later this fall. 

Sonic Superstars is a modernized 2D adventure with four-player co-op, which you’ll need to utilize to play as Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. Its announcement was one of the biggest surprises of Summer Game Fest, and after getting to go hands-on with it during SGF’s Play Days event, we came away excited about the blue blur’s latest adventure. 

Sega now has the animation of the game’s introduction. You can see it below. 

Sonic Superstars has a similar opening to Sonic CD, complete with bright blue skies, emerald-green plains, and more. Sonic, after destroying some enemies with Tails, joins the other Sonic Superstars characters, Knuckles, and Amy. The four team up to face Eggman before accelerating towards the screen. 

The trailer ends with the news that if you preorder the game, you’ll receive an “exclusive Lego Eggman in-game character skin, acrylic display stand, and reversible cover.” This preorder bonus will go great with the other Lego Sonic Superstars skins coming to the game as DLC. 

Sega has yet to reveal a release date for Sonic Superstars but it’s due out sometime this fall on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
