Xbox showcase 2023: When and how to watch Developer Direct

After months of relative quiet from Microsoft on the games front, the company plans to show off part its Xbox Game Studios lineup in a new showcase called “Developer_Direct” that will stream on Jan. 25.

Microsoft has no shortage of games coming to Xbox, Windows PC, and Game Pass in 2023, but the only games confirmed to appear at the event are ZeniMax Online Studios’ The Elder Scrolls Online, Arkane Studios’ Redfall, Mojang’s Minecraft Legends, and Turn 10 Studios’ Forza Motorsport.

Bethesda’s Starfield won’t be at January’s Developer_Direct, however. Microsoft states that the sci-fi role playing game will star in its own presentation.

Xbox Developer_Direct will stream on Xbox’s Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as Bethesda’s Twitch and YouTube channels on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 12 p.m. PST/3 p.m. EST.

Microsoft did not reveal how long the Developer_Direct livestream will run for, but did promise to show the following: “more gameplay and exciting new details” from Forza Motorsport; “an insider’s look into the PvP multiplayer experience” in Minecraft Legends; and single- and multiplayer gameplay — including combat, customization, bosses — in the open world of Redfall.

Xbox Game Studios has many other projects that are still being announced, but they’re mostly not yet in action. Allowed, Everwild, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, 3. State of Decay, The Outer Wilds 2Reboots and re-designs Fable Darkness is perfectOn its slate. Xbox gamers may need to wait for E3 2023 or later to get updates about these games.

2022 was a comparatively quiet year for Xbox, with the Xbox Game Studios’ brand publishing a handful of games like Interior Night’s Dusk Falls, Playground Games’ Hot Wheels expansion for Forza Horizon 5, and Obsidian’s Pentiment. As 2023 approaches, Xbox users can look forward to a very busy year full of exciting new features.
