Xbox Partner Preview: New Details on Ichiban Kasuga’s Upcoming Adventure, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

As a dragon: infinite wealth doesn’t hit Xbox Series X|S and Windows until January 26, 2024, but we’re already anticipating another exciting and emotional narrative RPG packed with unique enemies and unforgettable encounters.
We got our first “brief” appearance at what Ichiban has been up to during our Xbox Games Showcase from earlier this year, and today during Xbox Partner Preview we got an exclusive look at one of the most ambitious-looking jobs for Ichi to take on yet: managing his own island resort on Dondoko Island!
To learn more about what’s in store soon for players, we were fortunate to catch up with RGG Studio Chief Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto to get some new info on the circumstances that have brought Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu together, what’s going on with that new island activity, and how Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio aims to improve upon its already epic RPG combat system.
How can you tell us about Ichiban Kasuga & Kazuma Kiryu? The Infinite Rich What would it be useful for the players to understand?
Kazuma is a legendary Yakuza who was first introduced in the Ryu Ga Gotoku series. He is a stoic character that is representative of the entire franchise. Ichiban Kauga is very different to Kiryu, as he has a lot of humanity. He is the main protagonist that was introduced in Yakuza, like a Dragon.
What brought Kazuma Kiryu and Ichiban Kasuga together? As a dragon: infinite wealth?
Kasuga is sent to Hawaii to find his mother alone, but gets tricked and thrown naked onto the beach by a woman. He is then arrested by local police. Kazuma, a secret agent working on a different case at the time, is the person who saved Kasuga from his captivity.
How have you improved the RPG combat? Do characters have the ability to learn new skills?
You can adjust your effect based on distance and even change the direction in which you attack. There is also a special mode for Kazuma Kiryu that lets you use action controls to fight the opponent within a time limit.
Jobs system The Dragon It was incredible. You can improve the site. The Infinite Rich?
You can find some of the jobs from Yakuza Like A Dragon in this game, but you will also be able to unlock other jobs by doing activities on Hawaii. As I said before, characters can move, so abilities for jobs are unique, and have more strategic aspects.
When will players be able to access Dondoko Island? Is this a feature that’s available early in the game or is this more of a late-game activity?
The side story that is available to players at the beginning of Chapter 6 will unlock Dondoko Island.
What is the relationship between your activities on Dondoko Island and the overall campaign? As a dragon: infinite wealth?
The feature can be played independently of the main plot, so it’s up to you how fast or slow you want.
What else can the players expect from this game?
There will be a ton of minigames that I wouldn’t be able to list them all here but there’s an exciting minigame called Crazy Delivery, Sujimon Battle where you collect enemies and battle them and a dating app where you chat to find a match.
Hawaii is one of the many locations that this game will span. Do you have any specific real-world Hawaii locations (such as Waikiki) in mind? You draw inspiration for your designs from?
The locations we use are based in part on information we collect on site.
Recently, LLike a Dragon IshinGame Pass and the new upcoming Dragon GaidenXbox users can now enjoy nearly all of the series. What should we do with the few months left before launch? The Infinite Rich?
We’d love everyone to first play Dragon Gaiden and remember Kazuma Kiryu’s story, and maybe even play through the previous titles if time allows to further your understanding. You can also play the game if it is available. The Infinite Rich on launch day, we couldn’t be happier. I’m sure it will be an impressive experience for everyone!
