Xbox Partner Preview: Crafting the Game That Every RoboCop Fan Has Wanted

Behind every creative work, there’s a purpose. Teyon makes games that entertain but are also meant to be educational, provoke thought, or draw attention to important issues. The film, “RoboCop,” with its blend of entertainment and universal, timely themes, was the perfect choice – our team’s passion for the cybercop merely added to the enthusiasm.

Our goal was to create something that is both original and true to its source. The RoboCop world was dissected to the smallest detail in order to bring out its essence. Elements like dark humor, ’80s vibes, retro sci-fi, and early cyberpunk were embraced to recreate the atmosphere of the movies. Then we worked with one goal in mind, which was to make every fan’s dream come true: to play as RoboCop.

We focused our attention on RoboCop. He’s a complex character whose existence raises questions about humanity and the role that the “human factor” plays in law enforcement. Alex Murphy is the brain that was used to create him. Alex Murphy had been a husband, father, and loving police officer.

He lost all of his memories when he turned into RoboCop. Many people think that these are glitches within his program, but some see it as his humanity. Some consider them glitches in his programming, while others see that they are signs of human nature. RoboCop: Rogue CityThe players will be invited to explore the dichotomies that exist between humans and machines.

One way for players to explore these issues is to experience these recurring visions of Murphy’s past life in the game. The game gives players the unique opportunity to experience RoboCop from his perspective by having them inside of RoboCop’s armor. It allows them to feel what it’s like to be RoboCop in a way that films could never do.

One of the most touching scenes in the movie is when RoboCop returns to Alex Murphy’s home; his home. Although his family has moved out, the viewer still sees it from the perspective of Alex Murphy. His memories are seen by the audience. We wanted to make the experience more immersive and allow gamers to relive those memories.

The second area we wanted to explore was the dichotomy surrounding RoboCop’s existence. Agent Lewis considers him a human being, but others like OCP see him only as a robot, since Alex Murphy has been declared legally dead. Players will be able to explore his mind in the game and gain a better understanding of his mental state, especially when he is subjected to an official psychiatric examination.

Peter Weller’s company was an incredible honor, and the realization of a long-held childhood fantasy. In no time, Peter Weller was back in his role during the recording sessions where we recorded thousands of lines. He also gave us lots of feedback and advice on the character’s tone.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer owns the RoboCop rights, and MGM Interactive is a big fan of the movie. Our team was guided by their invaluable input, and we stayed true to our source material. Every decision was reviewed and approved to ensure it was in keeping with the source material.

The team has been able to create the RoboCop that we (and other fans) have been waiting to play.
