Xbox Insider Release Notes – Alpha (2310.230924-2200)

Hello Xbox Insiders. A new Xbox Update preview is coming soon to Alpha Ring. It’s important we note that some updates made in these preview OS builds include background improvements that ensure a quality and stable build for Xbox consoles.

We continue to post these release notes, even when the noticeable changes to the UI are minimal, so you’re aware when updates are coming to your device. You can find the full details below.

The Newest Features and Experiences

There’s exciting news to share! Xbox Update preview users will soon be able to enjoy a new feature.

Setups for Optional Data Collection

With today’s update we will be introducing a new settings prompt, available to users in the US first, and in additional regions and languages at a later date. While we are testing this update, you might be asked to make changes to your Optional Data Collection setting.

We recommend you leave this option to “Yes, I’m In” to allow for continued Optional Data Collection.

If you set it to “No Thanks,” we recommend doing so only to verify the experience and then reverting to your previous state under Settings > Account > Privacy & Online as soon as possible. By turning off Optional Data Collection you will limit the data that we collect to resolve issues and to improve our experiences before they are released to the public.

Note that if Optional Data Collection is disabled, it will last only through the current trial period. Optional Data Collection must be enabled as a default on all Xbox Insider consoles that are enrolled in the Xbox Update Preview Ring. The settings are restored when the next public update is released. The policy also applies to those users who choose not to collect optional data under the Settings menu.

We are pleased to announce that the following improvements have been made to this build thanks to the efforts of Xbox engineers:

There are known issues

Some issues may have already been addressed in prior Xbox Insider Release notes. These items aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

Audiences can be heard by clicking on the following link:

• Users have reported intermittent audio issues across dashboards, games and apps.
  • Please Note:: If you experience issues with audio, please submit feedback via Report a Problem immediately with the “Reproduce with advanced diagnostics” option, then select the category “Console experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues”.
  • Make sure you include as much detail as possible.
    • When was the problem first raised?
    • Do you only lose audio in games/apps or also the system audio?
    • If yes, does changing the audio format solve the issue? What was the audio format prior to and after changing?
    • Rebooting the computer fixes this issue?
    • What’s included in your setup? Equipment, layout, etc.
    • You can also provide additional information to try and reproduce the error.

Xbox Controller Keyboard Mapping

• In the Xbox Accessories app, the “Learn More” button is currently not functional.
• The change in keyboard language will take effect after you close the Xbox Accessories App or restart your console.

Manage Queue

• Recently installed titles can wrap unexpectedly to the second row. We’re working on fixing this.

Networking

• Reports indicate that consoles may not boot up to the network correctly. If you experience this, be sure to report the issue via Report a Problem as soon as you’re able.
  • WorkaroundIf your console is still not connected, restart it from the Power Center by holding down the Xbox button > Restart console > Restart. If your console still hasn’t connected, restart your Xbox from the Power Center by holding the Xbox button > Restart console > Restart.

Use only the best quality Report a Problem to keep us informed of your issue. We may not be able to respond to everyone, but the data we’ll gather is crucial to finding a resolution.
