Wrath of Man is a top-tier Jason Statham thriller to watch now on Hulu
Your typical Guy Ritchie protagonist is a brash, loud person who won’t shut the hell up. That’s doubly true of Guy Ritchie protagonists played by Jason Statham. So far, the duo has worked together on four movies, with Statham’s characters generally carrying the kind of Ritchie-movie swaggering bravado that can come off as charming or abrasive, depending on the role, the film, and the audience. Ritchie famously discovered the actor while Statham was selling fake perfume and jewelry on the streets of London — the director needed to cast a con artist in You can lock, stock and smoke two smoking barrelsStatham, meanwhile, was a worker.
The Los Angeles crime drama is a stellar example of this genre. Wrath of Man, which you can (and should) watch now on Hulu, Statham’s lead character could accurately be described as “Guy Ritchie protagonist: quiet variant.” He’s cold, calculating, and not very talkative. This film has a bit less madness, exaggerated and chatty than other Ritchie/Statham films. The SnatchThis works because Wrath of Man’s benefit and makes it worth a watch now that it’s on streaming.

Based on the French thriller from 2004 Cash truck, Wrath of Man This is a nonlinear, four-part story that focuses on one major event and its impact on the protagonist as well as the people who surround him. Five months after a deadly armored-car heist, the company that was robbed hires “H” (Statham) as its newest security guard. His weapons proficiency test is not passed and H walks into his job with low expectations and a very low profile. H is shocked when his co-workers see another attempt at robbery.
Ritchie’s career has seen some amazing action scenes (I am an documented defender). Legend of the Sword: King Arthur(I will not be sorry), but he achieves new heights together. Wrath of Man’s action beats, building a mystique around Statham’s mostly silent character with brutal efficiency in the violent scenes. Post Malone was a minor role. He follows his enemies like a stalker, looking for them before taking them all away. (YouTube commenter “ThatGuyOverThere” accurately described it as “what happens when a champion player enters a gold lobby.”)

Similar to the similar stellar LA-based heist novel Den of ThievesLos Angeles crime legends such as Heat,Wrath of Man The unique geography of Los Angeles is used to its full advantage, particularly in the very first vehicle-centric sequences that take place on roads. One of the first action beats features soaring palm trees against a clear blue sky. Aerial shots show the streets of Los Angeles from the air, with the lights reflecting in the night. James Herbert, a frequent collaborator of Ritchie and Christopher Benstead’s score (one the Oscar-winning soundtracks) provide a nimble editing. Gravity Sound team) enhance the action sequences and culminate in the dramatic Black Friday heist attempt. This delivers the tension for the more than 90 minutes that have preceded it.
Wrath of Man also has a typically solid supporting cast (Andy Garcia, Eddie Marsan, Jeffrey Donovan, among many others) with classic Ritchie character names (including Holt McCallany as “Bullet” and Josh Hartnett as the odious “Boy Sweat”). You should see this movie if you enjoy action movies or heist films. You would be surprised at how powerful a Ritchie/Statham thriller was if it were quiet and controlled.
