Wordle gets an official board game from Hasbro

The New York Times, Hasbro and Hasbro have announced that they will be partnering with The New York Times on Thursday. WordleThe hugely successful online word game ‘, will soon be available in a printed board game version. Wordle: The Party Game will be available to purchase in North America in October and is available to pre-order today via the game’s official website.

According to Hasbro and NYT Games’ joint press release, Wordle: The Party GameIt will let two- to four players compete against each another to solve word problems. Each round, a player is designated as the “Wordle Host,” who writes down a secret word that the rest of the players must try and guess. Players will have six attempts to correctly guess the word, just like the original game. A player will score less points the more attempts they make to correctly guess the word. The game ends with the player who has the most points wins.

Hasbro promises classic Wordle gameplay rules and a couple of variations, including a “beat the clock” mode and team-based word-guessing action.

Wordle’s official board game costs $19.99, and is available to purchase from Amazon, Hasbro’s Pulse website, and Target. The box contains three Wordle boards and three shields. There is also a Secret Wordboard, three dry erase markers, 45 green tiles, and 45 yellow tiles.
