Will Smith’s Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot will lean into the drama

While the series didn’t shy away at all from serious issues, its core purpose was to be a comic strip about situation comedy. This seems to be the case. Bel-Air’s stories will be more dramatic, and the series will likely feature longer individual episodes.

“Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions, and biases that were impossible to full explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering the swagger and nods to the original show,” says the teaser’s YouTube description.
