Weekend Warrior – Season Opener
Although we may have finished the super-busy season of releases, games continue to be released. This week, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga finally came out on Tuesday, Sonic the Hedgehog IIMajor League Baseball’s season has officially begun. Tiger Woods, who is returning to the PGA Masters after a horrific injury, is making his way into cinemas. You can watch and play a lot this weekend. We want to hear about what you are doing, so please let us know in the comments. Weekend Warrior!
First, let’s see what the Game Informer staff is doing with their upcoming days off:
Wesley LeBlanc – I have so many games I’ve started but have yet to beat – Horizon Forbidden West, Weird West, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Gran Turismo 7, and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt I just started Sonic Generations. It’s a game that I had never tried before, but I became intrigued by it after looking at how high it ranks in our ranking of mainline Sonic games. And I think this weekend I will play that because I feel like it is exactly what I need, after having platinum-ed Elden Ring. Maybe I do like Sonic games? Hmmmm
Kristin Williams – Saturday night should be fun. This is my first ever time playing Fall Guys. I will be joining some of my friends. You can wish me success in my quest to earn more crowns. I plan to play Kirby and Forgotten Land more often. It’s basically an adorable weekend of blob video games.
Alex Stadnik – Beating Elden Ring has put me in a weird place. On one side, From has ended my media juggernaut and I feel free to continue with other media interests. However, on the other side I am almost paralysed by all that is in front. It’s almost as if Frodo was feeling after returning home to the Shire. Tiny Tina is my favourite Borderlands game, and I’m excited to go on my co-op adventure through it. Apart from games, my plans include seeing everything, everywhere, all at once and returning to Project Hail Mary. Mentally, I am also preparing for next week’s Timberwolves playoff action. Go Wolves
Dan Tack – Hunt: Showdown, Final Fantasy XIII, Crystal Project.
Alex Van Aken – It’s been a rough week in my personal life, so I’m looking forward to tapping into a couple of zen games. Either I will be starting Stardew Valley’s new game (I haven’t done it since summer), or Final words checking out Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s Happy Home Paradise DLC. So I can be happy, I will decorate a house and listen to the relaxing music of any game. I’m also adamant that I will never be bored. Too relaxed, so I’ll be grinding ranked matches in Apex Legends as I aim for placement in Diamond this season.
Margaret Andrews – Starting my weekend with a coffee hang with Brian Shea! Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is over, and I’m enjoying it so much more. I’m continuing my tour with GI folks by playing Fall Guys alongside Kim and Kristin. Maybe even saying hello to Elise Favis. The rest of my time will be used to read Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristof (super good, super long!).
John Carson – I can’t tell if this weekend will be low-key or super busy. Marcus and I will be covering one of these games in Video Gameography’s next season. You’ll need to hear this week’s episode for more details. Elden Ring remains at the top my backlog. I will hopefully work a bit more on that this weekend. Saturday will see me and a friend play paper Magic: The Gathering in my local gaming store. Our friend and I are both looking forward to playing in person. Also, I have been playing World of Warcraft every night before going to bed, leveling up a Demon Hunter, so this will probably happen, as well.
Game Informer universe, now it’s your turn (I watched too many WWE matches this week). How are you spending your weekend? You can leave us a comment in the Comments section about what games and movies you are playing and any other activities that you have planned for the weekend. It’s going to be a wonderful weekend!
