Before Warner Bros. reboots its whole DC Films umbrella, it’s got one more new superhero to introduce you to: Jamie Reyes, the Blue Beetle. First trailer of Blue BeetleTake a peek at these teasersCobra Kai’s) Xolo Maridueña as Jamie, and his encounter with the alien scarab Khaji Da.

The new trailer covers much of Jaime’s movie origin story — a strange encounter with a piece of alien technology, a close knit family group, and a threatening presence of corporate power. Alongside Maridueña, the cast includes George Lopez (George Lopez) as Jaime’s uncle Rudy, Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise) as Victoria Kord, Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto) as the villainous Carapax, and Harvey Guillén (What we do in the ShadowsThe unknown position is:

Blue Beetle: What is it?

There are multiple answers to that question, because Blue Beetle is one of DC Comics’ “legacy” characters, where writers have introduced younger, more modern characters who take on the mantle of their predecessor. Blue Beetle the first was a superhero from war. He was a former police officer, who used bulletproof armor as well as taking a supplement of sci-fi vitamins to make his job as a vigilante. Ted Kord is the second. He was a brilliant inventor, self-made industrialist and was a superhero who chose to be wisecracking out of love and admiration for the Justice League.

This is the third star, and also the hero Blue BeetleThe film was directed by Angel Manuel Soto, a Puerto Rican filmmaker.Charm City KingsJamie (or Jamie) is an alien race that created ancient technology called Reach. This piece of technology gave him his wild abilities and a bug-legged suit. A blue-colored metal scarab forms the connection between Jamie and the device. It then introduces itself to Jamie as Khaji Da, bestowing Iron Man-like powers. The only catch is that Jaime can’t take the scarab off; he can only shrink it down to scarab-size and hide it on his back. Also, he and Khaji Da don’t always agree on the best course of superhero action.
