Watch the first trailer for Hunt, the spy thriller from Squid Game’s star

For most American viewers, Netflix’s Korean import series Squid Game was probably an introduction to Lee Jung-jae, who plays the hapless series protagonist, and one of the more tragic victims of its lethal children’s games. Lee is a well-known Korean fashion star and a sought-after model for many decades. Now, he’s a new spy thriller with an action-driven plot. HuntHe makes it to the role of film director.

Lee stars in Hunt as the head of foreign operations for Korea’s Central Intelligence Agency, opposite Jung Woo-sung as the head of domestic operations. When a series of crucial intelligence leaks threatens South Korea’s president, the two agencies learn that there’s a high-powered, deep-cover mole somewhere within the KCIA. Each man investigates, but it quickly turns into an intense personal feud as the two men try to expose and uncover North Korean spying.

The 2022 Cannes International Film Festival premiered the film. This action-packed film is sprawling and intense. Dueling agencies are armed against one another, sending hundreds of agents on chase and shootouts as they try to find any valuable assets or information. It’s blockbuster-level filmmaking, and the first trailer for the film shows off some of Lee’s directorial skills in terms of staging street warfare and mass faceoffs.

HuntOn Dec. 2, the film will be shown in cinemas as well as on VOD.
