Speedrunners’ antics are awe inspiring to the average spectator. If you don’t know what speedrunning is, it involves attempting to win games in a short time. Speedrunners use their skills and glitches to overcome the limitations of the game they are playing. Speedrunners are skilled at cutting through large games like The Legend of Zelda – Breath of the WildThis normally takes approximately 50 hours, but can now be done in a 30-minute sprint.

Polygon will embark on a Zeldathon in 2023. Follow us as we journey through The Legend of Zelda, starting with the 1986 original game and ending in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

What makes the top runs entertaining isn’t just that these players flex technical prowess, although it is always fun to watch someone good enough at fighting to beat the final boss in Link’s underwear. The leaderboards are shuffled and Player5 consistently holds the highest ranking speedrunner position. This is despite all the competition chipping away at overall playtime. Each world record is the product of hundreds of hours streaming and many tries. The stream feels casual and streamers talk about their favourite drinks. The way Player5 describes it, this run missed some early-game time goals but had a “clean end game.” The final run clocks in at 23 minutes and 51 seconds, making it the fastest any% run at time of publication.

TrevorSR

TrevorSR has a very vibe-y stream — during this stream, the competitor plays the soundtrack from Neon whiteLink zooms around the game. At the beginning of the stream, TrevorSR says they’ve been playing well and that they want to try again after a series of solid attempts prior to this run. A solid performance during the first part of the game is what mainly defines this run. Time: 24 minutes and 9 seconds, TrevorSR’s run is within 20 seconds of the world record and beat the No. Only one second separates the No. 3 position.

Koroks

Koroks is not a stranger to the tops in speedrunning. The world record for this run was set in 24 minutes 10 seconds. The No. The No.3 spot is currently held by it. This run doesn’t have any commentary or chat, so viewers are largely left to parse what’s going on for themselves. In the description of the video, Koroks mentions that fighting the Blight Ganons was bad, but that everything else went “just about perfect.”

XiaoXiaMi

XiaoXiaMi from China is currently the fastest speedrunner on this list. You can’t view the actual video of the record, which was certified by Speedrun.com, but you can catch videos of XiaoXiaMi competing. We decided to have a run, where TrevorSR (who holds the No. 2. In a race. XiaoXiaMi has a rambunctious spirit and shouts as they play. This makes it engaging and enjoyable viewing.

Player5 adds a casual, relaxed vibe to the complicated runs as usual. The world record was held by this same run but it fell to the fifth position due to shuffling. Although Player5 was pleased overall with the run, he ran into problems fighting Calamity Ganon. He then lost a chance at the dark beast. It took Player5 24 minutes and 42 second, but it helped open the doors for him to improve his run and claim the number-one spot.
