Video Games Stuck In Development Hell: Part 3
System Shock 3 was a popular game, one that people have been asking about since years. It’s no surprise, either, as its predecessor, System Shock 2, is one of the most important sci-fi games of all time. System Shock 3 was to follow System Shock 2 but it didn’t happen. Instead, we got BioShock.
Nightdive Studios would nevertheless succeed in an enormous Kickstarter campaign for funding. System Shock II remastered Star Insurance purchased the rights to this franchiseIn 2015.
Later that year Otherside Entertainment, founded by Paul Neurath (creative director at Looking Glass Studios), announced it would be developing System Shock 3. I don’t understand how that is possible. Didn’t Nightdive Studios own the rights to the franchise? It turns out that it is. Nightdive Studios gave permission to Otherside Entertainment for the production of threequels

System Shock 3 was teased in that teaser. Does it have to be cancelled? It doesn’t seem to be. Is it stuck in development hell? Considering we haven’t heard a word about it in over two years, almost certainly. It will it be out? Nightdive Studios appears committed to System Shock being a popular franchise. System Shock TV series in live action it’s making is any indication.
