Valve Steam Deck Launch Pushed Back To 2022

The gravitational pull that February 2022 has on everyone is unstoppable. Nothing can escape the gravitational pull of February 2022, not even Valve’s upcoming Steam Deck handheld. This company announced that the first wave of devices, which was supposed to be shipped in December, will ship by February.

This is because of the supply chain problems that plague many businesses as they prepare for the holidays. This is Valve’s full announcement and the reasoning behind it.

Steam Deck’s launch will be delayed for two months. We’re sorry about this—we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.

Steam Deck, based on the updated build estimates will begin shipping customers in February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue—all reservation holders keep their place in line but dates will shift back accordingly. Soon after the announcement, reservation date estimations will be made.

Steam Deck reservations due in the future will be affected. Keep an eye on your Steam account if you’ve pre-ordered one already.

It’s disappointing to be forced to wait for two extra months. However, it doesn’t take too much longer. This will allow Valve to get the components they need and to ship the bad guys out to gamers.

In July, the Steam Deck was revealed promising that a portable device could bring your whole Steam collection with you on-the-go in a small Switch-like package. Read our announcement about the Steam Deck, as well as our selections of the most enjoyable Steam Deck games.
