Update: Roblox Is Back Online After ‘Subtle Bug’ Took It Offline For Three Days
11.01.21 Update: Roblox is finally online again after it went down for roughly three days this past weekend.
Yesterday’s blog posted by the company revealed the details. It cites an “subtle bug” as the reason for the downtime. Although it didn’t give much information about the bug that caused the downtime for three days, the blog post states that a post-mortem will take place once an internal investigation is completed.
The blog entry states that “This outage was particularly difficult because it involved a mixture of many factors.” The blog post states that a key system within our infrastructure was overwhelmed by an invisible bug in backend communications, which occurred under heavy load. It was not caused by any spike in traffic outside or any other experience. The problem was actually caused by an increase in servers within our datacenter. Roblox’s services were not able to communicate effectively and could not deploy.
Roblox states that it was difficult to diagnose the bug, which is why the recovery process took longer than anyone would like. After identifying the problem, the team was able “resolve it through performance tuning and re-configuration as well as scaling back some load.”
Now, the game is online.

Latest: Roblox is not yet playable. We don’t know when, but now we know the free burritos are nothing to do with Roblox being offline. Roblox Corporation took the initiative to end jokes that burritos killed Roblox. TwitterIt will update the community which currently has over 43.2 millions active users daily.
“Still making progress on today’s outage,” the tweet reads. “We’ll continue to keep you updated. Again, our apologies for this delay. “We know this because it was unrelated to any particular experiences or partnership on the platform.”
While this messaging blocks the Chipotle promotion from happening, it leaves Roblox’s entire fanbase in the dark about the status of their favorite game. Roblox’s website has also been taken down. It displays nothing but a static image with the words “We are making it more awesome.” Please return soon.
This outage has been so long, Roblox Corporation should be able to provide some information soon about what’s happening. Players are heavily invested in this game – either with worlds they created or money they’ve sunk into it just to play. Let’s hope it returns soon. It’s rare to see games offline so long.
Original StoryWhat person doesn’t love a Chipotle free burrito? The Chipotle Boorito Maze, a Halloween-themed event in Roblox, offers this tasty chance. Every day, from October 8 to 31, the Chipotle Boorito Maze will award a burrito for the first 30,000 participants who complete the maze that leads them to Chipotle’s restaurant.
Roblox’s current downtime is unknown. However, Roblox’s timing to go offline for the majority of its players aligns with the promotion. This leads us to suspect that a large number of users may have overloaded the servers, or perhaps there are some issues with the new offer.
We know you’re having issues using Roblox right now.
We’re sorry and working hard to get things back to normal.

Roblox has been working to recover its users after it went offline late last night. They stated that certain users have now lost some of their access. We hope it is back on line soon, so that we all can see this crazy promotion. This reminds of the silly Sneak King game sold by Burger King. Roblox users can dress in Chipotle costumes and be asked to find the ingredients within the maze while also avoiding monsters.
Did you get your free Boo-rito yet?! We’d love to hear from you in the comments!
