Ubisoft’s Roller Champions Finally Launches Next Week

Ubisoft’s roller derby-inspired Roller Champions finally has a release date, and its inaugural season is only a week away.

The multiplayer, free-to-play title will go live on May 25. The game’s 3v3 contests combine skating, racing, and a bit of rugby. Teams skate around a track carrying a ball to toss through a goal for points. Additional points can be earned based upon how many laps you do. To keep possession of the ball, players must engage in tackle and other physical attacks to one another. Roller Champions raises the stakes in real roller derby, allowing players to skate along walls and do other outrageous moves.

As players rack up victories they’ll climb the ladder of a championship league to gain new stadiums, maps, and fans. Unlockable items can be purchased through season passes or in-game to customize your champion. Skateparks are social hubs that allow players and friends to get together, practice or play mini-games.

Roller Champions is cross-playable between PlayStation 4 (Xbox One) and PC via the Ubisoft Store. The game is also playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility.

Roller Champions first appeared at E3 2019. A pre-alpha demo was also released. This episode of New Gameplay Today shows us taking the demo version for a spin.
