Ubisoft Announces New 2D Prince Of Persia Called The Lost Crown

Summer Game Fest opened with a surprising and impressive announcement. The remake of Prince of Persia Sands of Time, which is currently in development is not yet available. However, Prince of Persia The Lost Crown feels more like Prince of Persia’s 2D origins.

The gameplay showed an impressive mix of flashy combat and high-speed platforming – much faster then the methodical platforming that inspired it. Sargon is the name of the character who, historically, has always been known only as Prince. He looks similar to his Sands of Time version, but otherwise, he appears to have a completely new look. In the press release, it is stated that the players are Sargon, an young and gifted warrior who belongs to a group of elites called The Immortals. They will be sent on a mission to save Prince Ghassan and explore Mount Qaf. Once a beautiful place that is now hostile. Sargon, his brothers and their allies will discover soon that time will become a sly foe. The world’s balance will need to be restored. According to the press release, “the Metroidvania” structure is what inspired the game.

Prince of Persia The Lost Crown is available on January 16, 2019 for Switch, PlayStation 5 & 4, Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One, Amazon Luna, PC via the Epic Games Store et the Ubisoft Store. Ubisoft will reveal even more at its Monday live stream.
