Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy announced for summer 2023 release

Trine is a comforting and modest game series. The fantasy cooperative platformer Trine returns this year. Trine 5, A Clockwork ConspiracyTuesday’s announcements were made by Frozenbyte developer and THQ Nordic publisher.

This summer will see the release of the fifth title in the series for Nintendo Switch (PS4, PlayStation 5), Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

The game again features Amadeus, Zoya, and Pontius, who jump, fight, and puzzle their way through side-scrolling level in time-honored fashion. You can play online or locally, with co-op. The difficulty of the puzzles is adjusted according to how many players are playing. There will be 20 levels, which I know because the press release told me so — even the fact that the publicity for this game tells you how many levels it will have is pleasingly nostalgic.

The first TrineFrozenbyte, a Finnish developer, released the game in 2009. Since then, new games have been released almost every other year.
