Toy Story, Frozen, Zootopia sequels in the works at Disney

Toy Story and Zootopia are developing new films. Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the news during Wednesday’s earnings call, right after discussing losses and layoffs. Disney is incredibly successful with all three franchises, Zootopiais currently the only one that doesn’t have a sequel.

2013’s Frozen This was the turning point that brought Disney to a new level of success. In 2019, it received a sequel and a few specials. Meanwhile, Toy Story was Pixar’s first movie back in 1995. Four Toy Story sequels are in production, the latest being released to theaters on January 2019. Pixar published “Toy Story 2” last summer. ZootopiaThe buddy cop comedy “” is about an animal kingdom. Although it doesn’t have theatrical sequels to the series, there are a number of direct-to-streaming shorts called Zootopia PlusIn 2022, Disney Plus premiered the film.

It is unclear what characters these just-announced sequels will follow or if they’ll even be direct sequels. The Toy Story franchise seems pretty closed since Woody’s departure from the gang in Toy Story 4The movie may be filmed in the future. Lightyear’s footsteps and dive into another toy’s origins. Frozen 2Meanwhile, Anna took up the crown in Arendelle, and got engaged to Kristoff. Elsa, however, went to live in the woods. The next generation could be followed or more mystery about Arendelle may emerge. A Zootopia A sequel might bring back Nick Wilde the fox, and Judy Hopps as his police partner. It could also tap into an additional set of characters within the strange world of anthropomorphic mammals.
