Total War: Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires now free to all players

The massive expansion, Immortal Empires which combines the three maps of the Total War: Warhammer trilogy is out in beta and available to all base-game players at no cost. New trailer gives us a glimpse of the much-anticipated Chaos Dwarfs DLC.

To mark Total War: Warhammer 3’s one-year anniversary, developer Creative Assembly released update 2.4.0, which, among a litany of gameplay tweaks, makes Immortal Empires free to anyone who owns the game. In order to play any of the three titles in the Trilogy, players needed to first own them all. Access the fantasy-world-spanning expansion. Now, should a player encounter a faction from a previous game that they’d like to try — such as the Ancient Egypt-inspired Tomb Kings, or the zombie-pirate-bloodsuckers of the Vampire Coast — they can buy them piecemeal.

The Total War community began to advocate for this model of purchasing several months back when Legend of Total War started a petition supporting the granting of more players Immortal Empires, which is the most popular mode of the game at a lower price.

The anniversary trailer below shows Order forces (humans and high elves) following the Immortal Empires beta video. Deliberating an alliance against the Chaos forces (orcs goblins and vampires). The trailer’s last seconds also hint at the Chaos Dwarfs DLC. It will feature the eagerly awaited faction, as seen in the original property. The DLC is expected to arrive by April, according to Richard Aldridge (game director).

In our review of Immortal Empires’ beta, we called it one of the most ambitious expansions in video games to date, with several continents to conquer, dozens of factions to battles, and an intricate web of diplomacy, alliances, and backstabbing assassins.
