Here are some tips and strategies to get you started on your quest to protect Hope from waves of armed automatons bent on recapturing the consortium’s priceless asset.

You should begin by searching for anything you can in an area of a reasonable size, particularly if you are playing the game at a high difficulty. The Hope defenders are left without weapons and a roof. The first wave of attackers will come armed with pikes and crossbows that are more advanced than the ones you’ll be able to craft in the first few days. You can find some useful items to fight off the blood-thirsty first wave of robots. If you craft weapons in the interim, your chances to survive are higher. This is good news because after the battle, you’ll manage to get the cool new carbon crossbows and salvage some metal from your enemies’ leftovers.

Start building defenses early – A far cry from the insects and creatures which attack in the game’s other scenarios, your Robots and Guardians adversaries are far better equipped (with laser pistols and pikes!). As waves of robots try to attack your base, they will become more and better armed. You will have to begin improving your defenses, placing traps and fortifications as soon as possible. It is always a good idea to do research on turrets first, before learning the basics of construction. A turret or two, and some traps will be of tremendous help to any robot.

Offense is the best defense – Choose your starting survivors carefully. It is important to have good fighters, and you may be able to lure the attackers with traps or surprise them. EMP Grenades will help you stay ahead of the attackers while they’re busy plotting your death before an attack.

Stock up on meds, especially healing balms – I recommend adding the recipe for “Bandages” to the crafting desk queue first, setting the quantity to until you reach 20. After battle, I make sure that the characters have all the necessary meds so they can recover from any damage. As the lasers that robots use will burn, healing balms must be used. To maximize production, choosing the “Until” option is the best way to make sure you have the desired amount in storage – plus, you won’t need to keep track of how many you have produced and how many you’ve used.

One delivery drone is enough, but one turret is not – The best parts of the robots are their electronic parts. You will find many components that will allow you to build cool new devices, but we suggest prioritizing defenses and turrets over delivery drones when you’re just getting started in the scenario. Delivery drones may be cool, but are expensive and you only need one for bases of normal size. There are never enough Turrets.
