So, let’s see what’s in store!
Technical upgrades are the first. The Xbox Series X can choose between Performance or Quality mode. Quality at 30FPS is more important than frame rate for Performance. Ray Tracing, which uses Ray Traced global lighting and ambient occlusion to create more natural overall lighting effects and realistic surface lighting effects in Quality mode, comes into play. Xbox Series S gamers can choose between 30FPS or 60FPS mode. The former presents the game at better textures and higher resolutions while the latter provides a smooth 60FPS experience. FidelityFX Super Resolution is available for Xbox Series X. This powerful technology boosts framerate and employs a spatial upscaling algorithm in order to preserve high visual quality.

Mods are also included in the next generation update. Mods are thriving in the modding community Wild Hunt in The Witcher 3. has always been vibrant and impressive, and we’ve curated a selection of mods to include improvements with a wide scope, such as reworked textures and character models up to 4K, refreshed monster models, visual bug fixes, immersion tweaks, and even map inconsistency fixes. It’s been great to implement community-made mods to help make this version of the game as beautiful, consistent, and up-to-modern-standards as possible.
CD Projekt Red also created content/gameplay additions in-house. The result is an improved gameplay experience. We also added our own textures and character models to the game. There are too many to mention here, but some additions of note include quick sign casting, making it simpler and more intuitive to cast Witcher signs in combat (no need to fiddle around with the radial menu and accidentally choose Yrden when you want Igni), more UI and map customization options, an alternative camera, environmental and character model improvements — enjoy the vastly better looking vegetation — faster herb looting that skips the loot selection window, and bug fixes which resolve some issues that the community has been aware of for quite some time.

As for new content, Witcher worlds are colliding with free DLC inspired by “The Witcher” Netflix series. It is likely that this will mark the debut of some players playing. Wild Hunt, and it’s likely that a number of these players will come to the game after watching the live-action Netflix series. Now players will be able to equip items and gear inspired by both seasons 1 & 2! There are two new sets of armor and a sword made from steel and silver for Geralt. Dandelion can also use the alternate costume and Nilfgaardian soldiers have new armor. And tying into this batch of free DLC is an all-new quest, “In the Eternal Fire’s Shadow”. This add-on brings something unique for new and veteran players, and bridges the games and show worlds. It also gives experienced gamers new gear and allows them to take part in quests. The quest and these items are coming to Xbox One!
Cross progression is another great feature. Cross progression will allow Xbox One players to transfer their saved games to another platform via the Cloud. Say you have an old save from six or seven years ago on your Xbox One — well, now you can portal that save into the next generation on Xbox Series X|S and finish up your playthrough!
