The Witcher 1 Remake Will Be Open-World, CDPR Says
Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red revealed that their upcoming remakes of The Witcher and The Wizard will be open-world.
This information was announced by CDPR at yesterday’s quarterly financial conference. CDPR touched briefly on the recent remake by Fool’s Theory. VG247. Although not much was shown, CDPR revealed in the slide below that Codename Canis Majoris (which we now know is The Witcher Remake) will be an open-world, story-driven RPG for single players and a modern reimagining 2007’s The Witcher.
This might come as a surprise because that 2007 game wasn’t open-world and instead took players through small hub-like levels in the city of Vizima.
Unfortunately, the slide is all we have about The Witcher Remake. The company said that it might take some time before more information is available about the remake.
CDPR has many projects at work, such as the Witcher Remake. The company announced last month that it is developing a Cyberpunk game and multiple Witcher games, including this remake, as well as a new IP codenamed “Hadar”.
