The Trio of Creation also includes Giratina, the Ghost Dragon. While it’s available to catch during the endgame of Diamond and Pearl, Giratina is the face of the third game of this generation, Pokémon Platinum. On being created by Arceus alongside Palkia and Dialga, this dragon was placed in charge of antimatter. However, due to its violent nature, Giratina faced banishment to an alternate dimension known as the Distortion World, a plane of existence where it watched the world it was meant to help create. 

Giratina’s interesting history is why it ranks high on the list. This dragon is a diverging form the time and space duo. It can take many forms inside or outside of the Distortion World. Its Origin Forme is larger and more serpentlike. Giratina loses its thick frame and large legs in favor of a rather creepy free-moving body. Giratina is able to remain in Origin Forme without being altered by the Distortion World when given an item called Griseous Orb.

Giratina is the viability of Giratina in combat, compared to Palkia and Dialga. It does have higher defense and special defense while in Altered Forme than the other two, but the rest really comes down to whether you need Giratina’s type on the team. Shadow Force has a lot going for it. This is a Ghost-type signature attack that can hit foes even when using shielding moves such as Protect and Mirror Coat. Shadow Force can also be used in team battles to hit all members of the opposing team, provided they are protected.
