The Super Mario Bros. Movie is $4.50 off at Vudu

Every Saturday for the past month, we’ve been having fun reminding readers of the kinds of deals and notable sales they might have missed out on during the week. The weekly roundup continues today, and below we’ll be presenting the best gaming and entertainment deals happening, plus the top-selling products on Polygon (hint: Zelda this, Zelda that).

Super Mario Bros.FilmIt is available to buy or rent digitally through many services like Amazon, Apple and Vudu. Wahoo! The thing is, if you’re used to paying $5 (maybe $10 max) for a movie rental, you might be surprised to hear that this new movie costs $24.99 to rent, or $5 more to own — no matter the picture resolution you prefer.

However, you can save a few dollars off the cost at Vudu if you’re a new member who hasn’t used the service before. If you pay by credit card, or PayPal with your account, then new Vudu members get 15% off all their purchases in the first month. It’s not a knock-out deal, but at least it’s something.

There’s such a thing as National Streaming Day. Did you? I didn’t know. Hulu has a deal to celebrate the occasion. The monthly price of Hulu’s ad-supported subscription plan will be reduced from $7.99 per month to $2.50 for a period of three months. You’ll be eligible to take advantage of this promotion if you’re new to Hulu, or if you’re a returning subscriber who cancelled more than one month ago.

TrigunThe author (of this post) found new audiences with Trigun Stampede. The gorgeous 3D CG animation adaptation will be available on Hulu early in 2023. But for new or longtime fans of the manga, there was some good news this week: Dark Horse Comics is republishing Yasuhiro Nightow’s acclaimed Trigun manga in a new hardcover that will debut on December 5 for $38.80 (discounted from $49.99). The Epic Games Store recently switched on its mega sale on PC games, and it’s a surprisingly good one. First, a number of games (and Death StrandingThe game is available for free until the end of Thursday morning at 11 a.m. (EDT). You can also get a discount of 25% on many popular titles once they are added to your shopping cart.

The brilliant Dead SpaceThe price has dropped from $47.99, its previous low to $39.99. The Last of UsPart 1. had a rough launch, but it might be worth buying now that it’s $44.99 instead of $60. Finaly, every purchase you make on the Epic Games Store comes with a 5% discount that can be applied to future purchases.

Asus ROG Ally, the new portable gaming device from Asus, promises to deliver better performance compared with the Steam Deck. However, as Chris Plante’s review points out, there are still some areas where Valve’s handheld PC comes out on top.

Best Buy, the only retailer that offers pre-orders of the Asus ROG Ally, is a great option for those who want a glimpse into the future. The $699.99 version with AMD’s Z1 Extreme processor will launch on June 13. The $599.99 version with a weaker processor will be available for pre-orders at a later date.

Steam offers the Bioware mega collection for just $19.73, compared to its normal price of $189.95.
