The sages of Zelda’s lore
The sages, as mentioned earlier, are a group of characters that appear in many Zelda titles. Like other characters, such as Link or Zelda the sages can also be used to create new stories and timelines. As a result, the sages in one game aren’t necessarily the same exact characters in another, but they might fulfill similar roles or purposes.
In the larger Zelda lore, the sages’ roles generally entail the protection of the Triforce and supporting Hyrule’s royal family. They can trace back their lineage to the early days of Hyrule. According to legend, the goddesses descended on Hyrule giving the land life. In doing so, the goddesses also left a legendary source of power called Triforce. The Sacred Realm was the place the goddesses had left their Triforce.
Hylians were said to have magical abilities in Zelda. In time, Hylians began to lose their magic powers. Only the royal family and the sages were exempt from this rule. They are therefore notable for having special powers, and their ties with the Hyrule Royal Family. Rauru is a notable example, as he was a sage that helped Link during the battle inOcarina Time. and now Tears Of The Kingdom.

What are the sages of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom game?
Although the role of sages may vary from one game to another, these characters are back and bigger than ever in Tears Of The Kingdom. At the start of the game, Zelda gets transported to Hyrule’s ancient past, where she meets the original sages of Hyrule. We don’t know all of their names, but the sages we meet are Rauru (the first king of Hyrule), Sonia (the first queen of Hyrule), Zelda (who stands in for Sonia), Mineru (Rauru’s sister), as well as a Goron, a Gerudo, a Rito, and a Zora.
The Imprisoning Wars begins after Ganondorf has killed Sonia. He then takes the secret stone that each of the seven sages possesses, which is an object with magical powers that can enhance their abilities. The sages and Rauru can’t beat Ganondorf, but the king does manage to seal him away. Zelda asks the sages to join Link in battle when it’s time, thousands of year later. They agree, and all that’s left is for the time to pass.

Our journey begins with Enter Link Tears Of The Kingdom. Ganondorf rises again, and it’s up to Link to fight him. Link travels to different regions to awaken the sages who have been reborn. We won’t list them all to avoid the worst spoilers, but the main ones include Tulin, Sidon, Makeela Riju, Yunobo, and Mineru/her Zonai robot. Link is helped by each of these sages because they have a special connection with a certain element.
While in previous Zelda titles, sages played a more advisory role, or served primarily to advance the story and provide Link with a lengthy chain of quests. Tears Of The KingdomLink will literally receive their power. Each character will become a Sage after completing the main quests, allowing them to give Link a unique elemental power. Tulin can use the strength of the wind to harness his power as the Sage Wind. Sidon, on the other hand, has a unique ability that allows him to create water shields or attacks. They swear loyalty to Link, and then manifest avatars of themselves so that Link can call upon their powers wherever he is.
The sages, taken together, play an important role in Tears Of The KingdomBy being the driving force behind both the storyline and how you approach the game.
