The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – How to reach sky islands

Tears of the Kingdom: Zelda’s LegendSky islands add verticality to the eagerly awaited sequel. However, we’re all wondering, how do we get up there? Tears from the KingdomYou can use new capabilities to make your travel more creative. Now you have the ability to rewind and make vehicles. You also can teleport through the ceiling, allowing for higher levels. You can either fly to the sky islands directly or just enough high to paraglide there.

Remember falling debris

The first method shown during Nintendo’s March 28, 2023, gameplay demonstration is by using your Recall ability which allows you to rewind an objects movement. Recall can be used on fallen rocks to propel yourself high into the sky and to paraglide to nearby sky islands. You should be on the alert for anything that might have fallen to ground, as they could serve as your elevator to a nearby sky island.

Make a flying device or plane

Video footage from the second official Tears from the KingdomTrailer shows Link flying a hot-air balloon and hovercraft. From what we know now after Aonuma’s gameplay demonstration, these vehicles don’t exist naturally in Hyrule; they were created using Ultrahand, a new ability in Tears from the KingdomThis allows you to combine objects. To reach these islands, gather some materials and build your own aircraft.

To higher ground, ascend

A second ability was added Tears of the Kingdom: Zelda’s LegendYou can use Ascend to move through the ceiling and reach the top floor. Of course this wouldn’t let you get to a sky island directly, but Ascend could be used to reach higher elevation on the ground or on another sky island to then paraglide to a lower sky island.
