The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Costs $70

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may be the most anticipated Nintendo Switch game of 2023. It is also one of the biggest and most thrilling releases ever made for the Nintendo Switch. We got an updated look at gameplay during today’s Nintendo Direct. A new Collector’s Edition was also announced, as well as a Link-starring Amiibo. Unfortunately, there were some unwelcome news regarding the imminent launch of The Legend of Zelda – Tears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo revealed in a press release that its upcoming Zelda title will be available for purchase at $69.99. Nintendo is the latest major publisher to raise the prices of triple-A titles. This follows other major publishers like 2K Games and PlayStation, who started pricing their major releases at $70 with the start of the new console generation in 2020. Ubisoft as well as Xbox revealed last year that the triple-A versions of their games will be available at a cost of $70.

Nintendo did not respond to our request for comment on the reason for the price hike and whether this would be the norm for future triple-A releases. This story will be updated if Nintendo releases a statement.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be available on Switch starting May 12.
