The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom abilities list

Link has a Sheikah Slate that is new and attractive in Tears of the Kingdom: Zelda’s LegendIt comes with new abilities, including the ability to create weapons and ride in the air, as well as build vehicles.

Here’s a list of the capacities we have confirmed from trailers along with their capabilities.

You can recall (rewind the time).

Nintendo demonstrated this ability to Link in a gameplay demonstration on March 28, 2023. The rock fell from a Sky Island and it shot back upwards like an elevator. Link can place himself on top of the rock to see it rise back to the sky. He then uses it to jump from the rock to the next sky island.

It does appear that we’re rewinding time a bit, making the rock retrace its steps. We’re not sure what the limits of Recall are. We can recall enemies. What about trees we have just cut down? While there are tons of possibilities, it’s hard to say what’s possible without knowing what else we can Recall.

Fuse (combination of weapons)

You can create your own weapon by using the Fuse ability. This allows you to combine shields, arrows and weapons with inanimate objects. Some of these weapons are unique and appear to be a study.

The gameplay demonstration revealed the following:

  • The combination of a stick and a stone made it a hammer-like instrument
  • You will need both a long stick and pitchfork in order to create a long pitchfork.
  • To make a big baton-shaped weapon, combine a stick with a log.
  • To make a frost-arrow, an arrow and some white chuchu jelly
  • To make a hooting arrow, an arrow and a Keese eyeball
  • Combine a shield and a puffshroom for a shield which doubles up as a smoke bomb.
  • You need a shield to create a rock shield. (We didn’t see this one in action.)

However, the game offers hundreds of different combinations to choose from, making it a great way to learn new skills.

Ultrahand: Building structures

The Ultrahand ability is different from the Fuse ability: Rather than combining things together, you’re kind of glueing them together. By sticking objects together in specific ways, you can create vehicles, whether it’s a boat, car, or plane. Ultrahand is a great way to travel in Hyrule.

Ascend (float by ceilings)

You don’t need to climb every mountain that you see with Ascend. Instead, all you have to do is wait for your strength. You can instead aim for the ceiling of a cave, and then swim through the cave to reach the summit of the mountain. While you likely won’t be able to do this for every mountain, it’ll still be a helpful tool that’ll save you time and stamina.

More information about abilities is sure to come, so we’ll update this guide as we learn more about Tears of the Kingdom: Zelda’s Legend.
